Zinc Oxide
Zinc oxide is an essential industrial material and a key chemical compound, found in mineral and synthetic forms. It is a white to gray, odorless powder, insoluble in water and alcohol but soluble in acids and alkalis. This versatile compound, composed of zinc and oxygen, is available in various colors (white, yellow, red, green) and has diverse applications in industries such as paint manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.
As a non-flammable semiconductor, zinc oxide reacts with acids to produce zinc salts and with bases to form zincates. Notably, it absorbs ultraviolet radiation below 366 nanometers, making it unique among pigments, and possesses antifungal and anti-mold properties.
