Fluorine
Fluorine, a crystalline mineral, appears in colors such as green, purple, blue, and yellow, with a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale. It melts at 1402°C and boils at 2513°C. Fluorine can dissolve in acids like sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid and is found in metamorphic, acidic igneous, and sedimentary rocks, comprising 25-65% of their composition.
Often associated with minerals like calcite, barite, galena, dolomite, quartz, and sphalerite.
Chemists in the industry use fluorite to produce hydrogen fluoride (HF), a widely used compound.
Fluorine applications
Fluorine has been used in welding, glass etching, and iron alloy production due to its ability to lower melting points and reduce viscosity. Mineral salts containing fluorine also share these benefits.
Key applications of fluorine in the industry include:
Steel Production:
For ferroalloys and synthetic cryolite in aluminum manufacturing.
Hydrofluoric Acid Production.
Casting and Ceramics.
Non-Stick Cookware:
Made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), branded as Teflon.
Electrical Insulation:
Utilizing PTFE.
Halogenated Refrigerants:
Known as Freon, used in refrigerators and air conditioners;
Glass Production:
Including opaline glass, flint glass, fiberglass, and lenses.
Dental Products:
Fluoride in toothpaste and mouthwashes helps prevent tooth decay.
Fluorinated Surfactants:
For removing stains and contaminants.
Pesticides:
Including herbicides and fungicides for agriculture.
Medicinal Applications:
In cholesterol-lowering drugs, antidepressants, some antibiotics, and anesthetics, such as atorvastatin, fluoxetine, and citalopram.
Fluorine Packing
25 kg Bags:
Standard size for easy handling and transportation.
Suitable for smaller shipments and retail purposes.
Jumbo Bags:
Larger capacity bags (typically 1,000 kg or more).
Ideal for bulk shipments and large-scale industrial use.
Provides cost efficiency and reduces packaging waste.
